Rajasthan Tour - A Taste of its Architectural Heritage

Selecting your favourite among the forts and palaces in Rajasthan is akin to asking a mother to pick her most beloved child from her brood. As clichéd and melodramatic as this comparison is, it’s only when you’ve visited a few of Rajasthan’s beautifully restored and preserved monuments that you’ll understand how no other comparison holds good. Of course, your budget can prevent you from experiencing the splendor of some of the palaces as they’ve been converted into fancy hotels and resorts with equally fancy prices. But this doesn’t mean those with shallow pockets need end up with a shallow Rajasthani experience! However, you have to be smart about experiencing Rajasthan’s architectural heritage on a low budget.

Indian tour operators might not suggest a drive through the length of the state but a road trip from Udaipur to Jaipur via Kumbhalgarh will give you a taste of all that you desire on a Rajasthan tour. The best part about a road trip is the flexibility that one enjoys. So even if you can’t afford to park yourself in Udaipur’s Lake Palace. You can at least park your vehicle anywhere!

A stopover at Udaipur should include visits to the City Palace and Ranakpur temples. Drive on to be impressed by the Kumbhalgarh fort and round off your road trip in Jaipur where one doesn’t have to shell out much to see the City Palace, the Amer Palace and Hawa Mahal. Agreed that Indian roads are more than bumpy ride, but fortunately the roads in Rajasthan don’t dare you to display your rally driving skills! So cheers to your drive along the dunes.
