10 Tips for Safe Travel in India

  • Double-check your travel documents and always keep supplementary copies of your passport details, insurance policy, visas, credit card numbers and traveler's checks with you.
  • Keep mineral water handy. Clean drinking water is not easily available everywhere and the tropical Indian climate may leave you parched and thirsty.
  • Keep some ready cash in your purse, including foreign currency and Indian rupees. It is not easy to find credit or debit card machines in smaller towns. But you must be careful not to keep a large amount with you, as this will only attract attention of unwanted elements.
  • Toiletries such as hand sanitizers, water purification tablets, bath salts, mosquito repellents, and sunscreens are a must during India tours.
  • Avoid wearing anything that contains metal when traveling through the security checkpoint. Things such as clothing, jewelry, or other accessories that contain metal should be avoided.
  • Be familiarized yourself with the destination. Find out its culture, food, laws, and mostly avoid known dangers.
  • Consult your doctor before you bring medications or fill prescriptions. Carry a letter from your physician if necessary. Always put your medications in your carry-on bag for easy access.
  • Never disclose any important personal matters and travel plans to any stranger while holidaying in India.
  • Apart from hotel's bell staff , don't hand over your luggage to any other person. Always collect receipt for stored luggage. Never leave your luggage unattended at the airports, railway stations, taxi stands and bus stands.
  • Avoid using short cuts, narrow alleys or poorly lit streets. Always try to travel in company of others.
